McNickle v Huntsman Chemical Company Australia Pty Ltd 2024 FCA 807.
This matter was the class action commenced in Australia concerning the alleged Carcinogenic effects of a product Roundup produced by the Monsanto Company. The matter is but one of many instituted in different jurisdictions internationally.
There was also an initial Pre-Trial hearing of Common Questions including general causation on whether the use of or exposure to Roundup products which contained glyphosate increased the risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma. There were ten expert conclaves ordered covering three streams of scientific evidence (epidemiological stream – animal studies stream – mechanistic evidence stream).
Ultimately it was held that the evidence as a whole did not establish that use and/or exposure to Roundup Products which contain glyphosate cause NHL in humans, an outcome which differed from some oversea’s proceedings.
